		<description>A small disagreement here over the definition of private property.  A co-op is owned by its members or worker-managers.  It&#039;s not owned by individuals, nor operated on the basis of private profit.  In essence, it&#039;s socialist, not capitalist. 

A useful comparison is between a condominium and a housing cooperative.  In a condo, each occupant owns his or her individual unit within a larger complex.  It is consequently private property, a form of capitalist ownership.  In a housing co-op, no one owns their own individual unit, all the occupants share ownership of the total property.  Consequently, it&#039;s socially owned, or socialist.</description>
